Antigone

ANTIGONE

Adapted by Lewis Galantiere
From the play by Jean Anouilh

Directed by Stephen Weitz

September 29 – October 7, 2006

The Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company opened Season 1 with a production of Antigone. Adapted and presented in France during the Nazi occupation of Paris, Jean Anouilh gave this ancient story a new relevance through his interpretation. The message that the power of one voice can make a difference is still vital today, and, in an effort to encourage informed, active participation in our nation’s Democratic process, BETC worked with the Boulder chapter of the League of Women Voters during this production to disseminate non-partisan election information and to encourage people to vote in the November elections. The League also registered voters on-site before each show. This event was presented in conjunction with the Dairy Center for the Arts, with support from the SCFD, BCAA, and the League of Women Voters.
