Copenhagen invited the audience into a provocative conversation about the moral responsibilities of science and scientists, through a fictionalized account of a historical meeting between Danish physicist Niels Bohr and German physicist Werner Heisenberg. These two eminent scientists had worked very closely together for many years developing the physics that led to the discovery of nuclear fission. However, with Heisenberg having been charged by Hitler to develop the atomic bomb for Germany, these friends and colleagues find their relationship strained to the utmost by issues of morality, patriotism and responsibility. This rare feat of historical drama presented a gripping debate surrounding issues of scientific accountability and the practical exploitation of scientific discovery.
