The adventurous Louis de Rougemont invites you to hear his amazing story of bravery, survival and celebrity that left nineteenth-century England spellbound. Featuring tempests and battles, pearl divers and sea turtles (and a bit with a dog), Shipwrecked examines how far we're willing to blur the line between fact and fiction in order to leave our mark on the world.
Starring Josh Hartwell, Lindsey Pierce and Stephen Weitz.
"The Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright Donald Margulies scampers to the defense of good old-fashioned yarn spinning with Shipwrecked. The breathless story of a Victorian gentleman [and] seafaring wanderer springs to life like a theatrical pop-up book." —NY Times.
"A deft literate narrative folded into a vaudevillian romp with radio theater overtones.” -LA Times.
Producing Ensemble Director’s Comments: This show is the epitome of everything we try to do here at BETC: a wonderful story of adventure and discovery, told in a style that only theatre can truly convey. Part Robinson Crusoe, part reality show, this is sure be a fun ride for patrons of all ages. Shipwrecked will also be featured as our student matinee series, continuing the success we had with last season's Crime and Punishment.
